You can't use a regular splitter, but there are special ethernet splitter/combiners that you can use, like this one:

They use the normally unused extra pairs in the ethernet cable. Usually a switch will make more sense, though.
*Please Note: Use of this product requires two available Ethernet ports on a network switch. The pair of RJ-45 Combiner kit must be used together for each installation, one on each end of the cable run, for proper operation.
