1.9 - Strange bug

I have a very strange bug with 1.9 and L2TP connection.

I do not understand how or why but 1.9 sometimes revert to "pre" L2TP DNS.

You know L2TP first connects as DHCP (gets "local" IP , DNS etc) , then logins to server and get new set of IPs including DNS.

So the problem is that at some moment even while everything was working fine for a hour or so - DNS reverts to DNS from "first" DHCP set.
The programs that do not use DNS continue to work fine but browsers etc .. :(

because your l2tp login server have dynamic ip(?)
    where are you from?

No , actually server does not have dynamic IP (and Tomato firmware btw does not accept DNS names as L2TP server address, IP only).

Location is Israel , using HOT (Matav) as line carrier.

Btw: another part of this strange thing that DNS servers change without disconnecting (or at least router thinks so) - I see for example that router was connected for 2 days (and worked fine, I verified that servers looks right) but it changed DNS servers somehow without disconnection.

when you connect via a dialer the resolver (DNS) changes and if you hang up you cannot reach the login server again..
    what ISP BTW?

I am not sure I understood your question (or was it a comment ?).

I know that DNS changes when it connects its the way it supposed to be , the strange problem is that it changes back after some (random) time and not even due to disconnection (the IP and gateway received after dialed stay the same, connection time show that there was no disconnection) .

Anyway the ISP is "Bezeq International" (014) and I have "gamer" account there (not sure what it really means I guess a bit different routing/prioritizing but gives "perfect" pings).

    matav.bezeqint.net (PPTP/L2TP) 212.25.127.1-4
    tevelbi.bezeqint.net (PPTP/L2TP) 212.179.61.77-78
    cable.bezeqint.net (PPTP/L2TP) 212.179.95.95 172.26.255.2 (Mask: 255.240.0.0)

I would go for MPLS if I were you..

Yes that's what my initial approach too , after all MTU 1500 and less headers overhead, but the problem was that in that case it all routed through cables network as result EVE experience was untolarable - constant lags, several ports like 5000 were closed and I believe they did some port traffic throttling since Skype and UltraVNC to US sometimes were working perfect sometimes barely connected.
Now with this "gamer" account despite dialer it works perfect.

    I got you...
the easiest thing to do would be to change Tomato to receive a domain parameter for the L2TP dialer instead of an IP...

Sorry for the late bump - I'm having the same problem using Netvision ISP and I'm looking for a solution. by the way - it used to happen on my old Edimax router as well.

How do I set Tomato to receive domain parameters?
