2 fields DDNS support on new firmwares for RV016 and RV082?

    What exactly does the new support for 2 fields DDNS do on the new firmware for the RV016 and RV082? Are these supposed to support CustomDNS on the DynDNS?

    I have CustomDNS service and I still cannot get my RV016 and RV082 to update the myDomainName.net with the new firmwares. Or is it for something else?

    I think this line in the change log is what the question is about:

    "7. Allow DDNS Host Name to have only 2 fields such as abc.net"

    "abc.net" = two fields
    "xyz.abc.net" = three fields

    Right.

    But I have a 2-field customDNS subscription of DynDNS and the routers can't update my CustomDNS names (2 fields or 3) even using the newest firmwares......

    For my clients that use DynDNS....I've flipped them over to dyndns's software client.

    DynDNS outright tells you they don't like you using, nor do they support, the dynamic dns features of the firmware of routers. The routers try to update too much, and overwhelm their servers...putting too much of a load on their free service...so they cut you off.

    Since moving my clients to their software dns updater...issues have gone away.

    Unfortunately, the software DynDNS updater won't work in a multiple WAN load balancing configuration.
