Ok I have been searching for this answer but havent got a strait forward answer.

    I currently own 1 WRT54G and connect to a Cable Connection 6MB/768
I have one XBOX and Desktop connection via CAT 5
I have 2 Wireless Computers, Laptop and USB Wireless to Desktop

What I want to do is be able to connect an XBox in another room but would rather purchase another router.

What I want to do is be able to connect the other router2 to the MAIN router1 192.168.1.1 and allow the router to recieve signal and use the 4 ports on router2.

Im not sure if you can do this with official firmware or not but would like to keep the linksys firmware on there.

As long as I can use all four ports on the back of the other router it would be wonderful. If I update firmware I have read that I will be able to recieve signal and use four ports on router 2 and and be able to repeat the signal from router1. I live in an apartment so I dont think signal strength is much of a factor here.

Can anyone help give me some feedback to solve this brain teaser.
If I have to install additional firmware I would probaly imaging this voids the warranty on it. Can I put the old firmware back on when im done with this setup without damage?

So if I want to connect the other router wirelessly I have to add 3rd party software. No way to do it with stock firmware?

Now will WDS actually repeat the signal and also allow me to use the 4 ports on the back.

Which firmware are you referring to?
