2x rvs4000 won't connect

I have two rvs4000's set up for a gateway to gateway vpn. Both have firmware version V1.1.09. Local and remote groups are set up properly for each end. Phase 1 and Phase 2 settings are identical. But I cannot get the tunnel established. I click connect and nothing happens. I check the vpn log and there's no evidence that a connection was even attempted.

When I change to Manual Keying Mode it connects, but I cannot ping remote machines by ip address.

Any ideas what the issue may be?

Are both sides of the tunnel running on static ip's or dhcp? Also, what are the connections; are they ethernet or xDSL? Linksys routers tend to have a "hissy fit" if they are not running behind cable modems. If they are running behind xDSL modems, the ehanced functions (i.e., vpn) sometimes doesn't run correctly...

Thanks for the reply. I have one at home behind a DSL modem and the other at our store behind a cable modem. Both have public static ip's. Why would changing the keying mode to manual make a difference? Are there any configs that will work, or I'm a basically stuck with replacing the rvs4000 behind the dsl modem? And if that's the case, what models will play nicely with the rvs4000?
