    Hi all
I am thinking of buying this Router off a personal sale. The problem is when I looked underneath the Router it does not state any Version #. Is this Ver1? Will it WOrk with any build with Tomoto..
    Thanks in advance...

    Yes, it's version 1.

No-one has confirmed that Tomato works with WRT310Nv1 yet, so you will be taking a risk no matter which version you try.

    I know that DD-WRT works.

Wow, I didn't know it was on the support list. Thanks for pointing it out.

Still, I would need more testimony before I would feel safe trying it out.

I've been running Tomato Firmware v1.28.7633 .3-Toastman-IPT-ND ND Std on a WRT310N v1 for several months now with no issues. It's a "slave" WDS +AP, and is extremely stable.

Thanks for the testimony. That's a K24 build, right? I would assume that a K26 MIPSR1 build would work too?

Yes, it's a K24 build. I don't know if the WRT310N has enough RAM (4MB) or CPU power to support K26. I seem to remember reading somewhere that Toastman doesn't recommend K26 builds on older routers.

Yes, I remember Toastman saying that too. That's why he is no longer making K26 MIPSR1 builds, but fortunately Shibby is still doing these builds. I'm using a K26 build on my Buffalo WHR-HP-G54.

If I ever get a WRT310Nv1 for a cheap price then I now know that it's compatible with Tomato.

Well, I got a WRT310Nv1 for a fairly cheap price.

I tried a few firmwares - some successes and some failures.

    Here are my findings:

stock firmware to Shibby K24 firmware = failure, will not install
stock firmware to Shibby K26 MIPSR1 firmware = failure, will not install
stock firmware to Toastman K24 firmware = success
Toastman K24 firmware to Shibby K24 firmware = success
Toastman K24 firmware to Shibby K26 MIPSR1 firmware = it installs, but then your router is bricked (you can recover using TFTP)

I never tried any Toastman K26 MIPSR1 firmwares because they are a little dated. I will assume they will fail as well.

So there you have it. The WRT310Nv1 will *only* run K24 firmwares at this point in time.
