    Bought a faulty WRT54G V1.1 off ebay.

The dude said it just needed a flash, turns out the power supply is burnt out and the unit work flawlessly. I have no idea how he didnt see the burn marks on the supply lol.

Anyways, i have a 12v powersupply unit @ the right polarity, however, it churns out 800mA when the original throws out 500mA.

Worth using it or would it be advisable to get a replacement or use the one i have?

    Cheers

Do you mean (i) the WRT draws 800mA with your PSU, and 500mA with the original PSU, or (ii) is your PSU RATED for 800mA while the original PSU is RATED for 500mA?

If (i), something is not right with your PSU - most likely the Voltage is very low.

If (ii), then your PSU is fine, as the WRT will only use the mA it requires.
