With respect to a WRT54G v1.1 running Thibor15c: 1. Does the cpu_overdrive NVRAM variable have any effect on this hardware version? If I set it, will I damage anything? 2. I often hear the advice to use a beacon interval of 50ms if the reliability of the connection is being adversely affected by RFI or multipath. (In my case, I don't have significant RFI but do have significant multipath.) Why is this a "good idea"? I've been reluctant to use a beacon interval shorter than the default of 100ms, so I've experimented with many different beacon intervals up to 250ms, with the result being a rather temporary improvement in performance and/or reliability. 3. How do I determine the optimal fragmentation threshold and RTS threshold? 4. Which is a greater liability to reliability (oops, tongue twister): frame bursting or a short transmit preamble? 5. Given that most (but not all) of my reliability problems seem to be DHCP timeouts reported by a laptop after waking from standby/hibernation, might setting DHCP leases to not expire (nvram set dhcpd_slt=-1) help? Is it safe to do so? 6. Any suggestions on antenna diversity? Are the "left" and "right" antennae defined by looking at the front or the back of the router? This photo of my setup might help explain my reason for asking the questions after #1. The desklamp is my claimed source of multipath. I can't move any of the devices significantly due to cabling restrictions. There is a 1ft ruler laid on top of the router and modem for scale.
