Im a bit confused about the way the nslu2 sets up shares and such. First off what is the Admin 1 folder. I cannot seem to access it from my network places even though its there. Inside that folder is a "public" folder that i deleted, dont ask why. Came to find out that that folder was really the DISK 1 folder? is that correct?

Also when i ftp to the nslu2, am i allowed to create folders that way? if so do i put it in disk 1 or admin 1? thanks for your help

The internal clock also looses time every time i restart the unit. i put a new battery in and still no luck.

also, i cant seem to be able to map a network drive to the Nslu2 if it is under admin rights. its says its not accessible. how to i fix that?

Sorry about that, but i got everything working now. Turns out that unit was defective. i can now map network drives, the time is saved, i can format and scan disk with no problems. All of which i couldnt do with the unit i had earlier today.

When you create new shares, do you usually put them in DISK 1 or give them a defualt directory.

leave them in the default share!!

are you on xp? when you open up my network places just delete the admin 1 and/or 2.....and disk 1 and/or 2 folders it just deletes the shortcut to them. you don't need to mess with them, the shares you create should show up once you log on to the nslu2 and save the password. if you don't save the passsword it doesn't work easily. find the nslu2 thru show network computers and log on that way . xp pro has save password box to check and xp home won't let you save it. and if your setup is rite it will show the shares in my network places, also map network drive won't work rite if you don't save your password at first log on. turn off the computer and you'll have to log on evertime you restart

    hope this helps
