It would be nice if the user could attach a user-supplied name or comment to the right or left of Port ID field on the port set up page under the port management tab. Probably it isn't so hard to remember what devices are attached to the four ports of an RV042, but when you have eight ports it is hard to remember which port goes with which device without resorting to sticky notes posted near your computer. :)

Probably this proposed name or comment tag would need an entry field that could contain at least 12-15 characters to make the identification less cryptic and more useable.

I just label the cables. :)

That might be a nice feature but I see more critical issues these RVs need fixed...

If you are remotely administering the RVxxx, it is impossible to check the cable labels!

I would also appreciate the addition of a user supplied comment. An alternative would be to provide the mac address or IP address of the device attached to the port.

And of course the information should be reported back when you query the snmp OID for the port.

A comment field would also be useful in other places:

    Firewall rules
    Port Forward rules
    Protocol Bindings

It can be an absolute nightmare whene you go back to these some time after they were set up and have to try and work what they were specifically set up for!
