I know some folks have done this before but I can't seem to find the post that shows the configuration.

I am trying to debug a loss of sync issue with my DSL service and of course the guys at AT&T keep blaming my inside wiring.

I have found in the diagnostics pages that the modem detects a loss of signal every time I lose connection. The bad thing is that I have to pull my router cable and plug my PC into the port on the DSL modem to find this out creating another loss of signal. I would like to probe this modem without having to re-cable.

I know I need to add another IP address to the VLAN1 and then create the appropriate routing tables to allow access to/from the LAN connections. But I just don't have the experience on doing IPTables etc...
