I'm trying to add a 3rd to a powerlineAV network adapter. First computer is connected to Linksys WRT54GX router w adapter #1. Second computer connected to adapter #2. Configuation utility does not reconized the mac adress of the # 3 adapter. All three blue indicator lights are lite. I'm running windows XP. Have spend over 2 hours trying to resolve w Linksys tech support. One person just told me the PLE200 only work in pairs. I don't think that correct because the manual states you can add up to 256 remote adapters to the local PC. Please help.

Well an easy way to figure this out is remove all adapters and reboot your router to clear the mac table. Start with adapter #3 and see if it works, if it does its a good adapter, if it does not then potentially they need to work in pairs or that is just a bad adapter. Then move to #2 etc. If you get to any other sequence of adapters working and one not then its either a "pairs" or adapter conflict. Give those a try and then report back if you still have issues.

I'm trying to work through some issues....I had purchased 3x adapters after being told by our regional Linksys VAR rep..that they will work as 3 units. I hadn't set these up before...and was going to do them at my house as a "trial".

Router on first floor...2x PCs up on the third floor. Wireless performance not adequate for online gaming.

Downstairs...router LAN port leading to PLE200 right next to it in electrical outlet, as well as access point, and first PC..plugged into router.

Upstairs on third floor...second PC...plugged right into second PLE200 adapter...ran that way quite well for approx a month.

I had a third PLE200 plugged in..on a different room up on the third floor..for occasional work on PCs that I brought home to work on. Didn't seem to be an issue, was short usage.

However...added a full time third PC...and plugged it into that third PLE200 unit. Now since running that third PC 24x7...occasionally it would fall offline, sometimes my second PC upstairs would fall offline. I'd have to unplug/plug back in..all 3x PLE200 units to bring them back.

Here's what's odd. When that third PC would lose internet access...it could release/renew and get correct IP information from the router. However...if it tried to ping the routers LAN IP address...it would not get replies. Ready for the wierd part? If you pinged another PC On the LAN, it would get replies.

Again..power cycling all the PLE200 units brought them back online. Sometimes it would be fine for the rest of the evening..other times it would act up a few times that evening.

I'm just running these plug 'n play...didn't setup the encryption on them with the utility.

What I'm thinking of doing today....remove the third PLE200...and using the second PLE200 up on the third floor....uplink a switch to it..and plug the second and third PC into that..as well as a fourth PC I'll have finished soon, plus an access point to blanket the house with wireless. So I'm curious to see how 4x PCs up the third floor will run going through it..downstairs to the router on the first floor.
