ADSL2MUE bridge to PC

I'm trying to use the above modem/router as a bridge in conjunction with an old PC I have, connecting via Ethernet. I've seen various posts related to using it as a bridge with other Linksys routers.

The box works fine using PPPoA to my provider: Virgin.net (UK).

Switch to bridge mode though, and I can't connect. In Windows 2000 I'm using raspppoe which times out after about 20 secs. I've also tried the DSL setup in Suse 9.2 which IIRC indicates inability to complete PADI discovery.

My VPI, etc. settings I've duplicated from my PPPoA connection, but it doesn't allow me to connect.

Is it simply a misunderstanding on my part? Although routers have come down a lot in price, I don't feel the need to buy another one. I'd rather re-use equipment I already have.

As a side note, I've also upgraded the firmware to 4.17 which gives access to some more sophisticated features, but it hasn't made a difference to the bridging question.

    Any help gratefully appreciated.

It won't work through the ethernet if your connection is PPPoA. There is no "natural" way of making it work. I recommend using the USB interface or just use it as a router instead a modem letting it do the nat.
