You cannot fix a hardware fault with this method, how did the modem get in this state? Better a failed attempt at loading new firmware than a random event, which could mean failed internal power supply etc.

As you can access the bootloader its not dead yet:-

For old Linksys 4.12 firmware other Environment variables, which could be corrupt and prevent booting, should be

    Code:
    IPA 192.168.1.1
    MODETTY0 38400,n,8,1,hw
    MODETTY1 38400,n,8,1,hw
    MAC_PORT 0
    mtd0 0x900a0000,0x90400000
    mtd1 0x90020000,0x900a0000
    mtd2 0x90000000,0x90010000
    mtd3 0x90010000,0x90020000
    autoload 1
    BOOTCFG m:f:"mtd1"
    USB_VID 0x0451
    USB_PID 0x6060
    HWA_RNDIS 00:E0:A6:66:41:EB
    HWA_HRNDIS 00:E0:A6:66:41:E1
    usb_vid 0x13b1
    usb_pid 0x000f
    usb_prod Linksys RNDIS Network Adapter
    connection0 0
    HWA_0 00:12:17:xx.yy.zz
xx.yy.zz the MAC on your ADSL2MUE label

when connected with ftp use "quote GETENV variable" to read a variable "quote SETENV variable, value" to write (as per mtd 0 and 1 above)

A Ti utility known as PC-Tool over on routertech forums makes editing the environment variables easier, see

    http://www.routertech.org/viewtopic.php?t=335

for links and on the same site other success stories of reviving the ADSL2MUE

OK Step 1, lets see what is set in your environment, from the ftp prompt issue the command "get env" which will retrieve a small text file called env

    Code:
    Connected to 192.168.1.1.
    220 ADAM2 FTP Server ready.
    User (192.168.1.1:(none)): adam2
    331 Password required for adam2.
    Password:
230 User adam2 successfully logged in.
    ftp> get env
    200 Port command successful.
150 Opening ASCII mode data connection for file transfer.
    226 Transfer complete.
    ftp: 1589 bytes received in 0.25Seconds 6.36Kbytes/sec.
Please post the contents of this file here, so we can compare with what I posted above, and I can advise on how to make changes if necessary.

    Bad luck.

Without opening the modem you should check the 5V 1A power supply. The Linksys brick is not well regulated probably reads 7V open circuit. If you have another 5V 1 or 2A power supply to try that may help.

If that's OK you will have to open the unit - I assume it is out of warranty, and you cannot return it? You have to break the seal, instructions same as for WRT54G/GS/GL, screws under front feet.

First check the 3.3V rail which is available on the serial console connector - pin outs should be correct here:-

    http://www.linux-mips.org/wiki/ADSL2MUE#Console_and_JTAG_port

I've had one and know of at least one other that has a failed internal 5V/3.3 regulator, the chipset is similar to the WAG54's so could also have failed capacitors.

but i want understand what is mean of
150 Opening ASCII mode data connection for file transfer.
    Connection closed by remote host.

    The response should be
    Code:
    ftp> get env
    200 Port command successful.
150 Opening ASCII mode data connection for file transfer.
    226 Transfer complete.
    ftp: 1420 bytes received in 0.05Seconds 30.21Kbytes/sec.
    very quick

If I turn off my modem and try again I get
    Code:
    ftp> get env
    Connection closed by remote host.
    ftp>
which suggests to me you have a hardware problem.

When the WAG54's fail they sometimes work for a bit longer if you set your Ethernet port to 10Mb/s half-duplex.

The "tuannd method" http://www.linksysinfo.org/forums/showthread.php?t=46930 was first published by "mrgamer" on this site http://www.linksysinfo.org/forums/showthread.php?t=47660 - the procedure works. Why did you need to use it? If you have a PC or hub connected to the Ethernet port does the Ethernet LED come on & off when you apply power?

A web based guide to using the "Ti Remote Application" is given here
    http://www.techarp.com/showarticle.aspx?artno=374&pgno=1
but do not attempt to use the mtd values they are specific for the modem, bootloader and firmware.

    Have you checked the voltages?

Details of my repair to a voltage regulator here
