    Hello, everyone

I am new to this forum and would like your advice on chossing the right firmware for WRT54GS router. On the back of this router, I noticed that the lable has only "WRT54GS" printed on it. It does not have any version information on it, so I guess this router would be "version 1"?

Here is the features I would like to have:

Right now I have Netopia parental control service turned on, and I would like to continue use it after firmware upgrade.

I would like the new firmware has an option to block P2P, is this possible?
If not, I would like the new firmware to have more options on blocking traffic by port number, protocol (fasttrack , etc), time of the day, MAC address, etc. Additional QOS feature will be nice. I am not concered about wireless connection security though, because all my network is wired.

I am also considering adding a linux firewall runnning iptalbes as second layer of my network protection. I hope I can also use iptables to filter out all P2P traffic which I hate most. Can I do this?

sorry but i dont think that most 3rd party firmwares still maintain the partenal controls. you could buy another wrt54gs and have one wit 3rd party firmware and another wit linksys firmware that way you could still have the parental controls.

or you want to go wit 3rd party firmware go wit dd-wrtpre3.2 this is stable in my book
