    Hi,

I just bought an Airport Express base station from Apple. I'm trying to connect it to my WRT54G router using the wireless client mode of the base station. It won't connect no matter what I do.

It connect corretly if I wired the APX to Ethernet behind the router so far.

Here are the details of the connection I'm trying to make with my wireless router:

I have a Linksys wireless router (WRT54G, with the DD-WRT v23 SP1 Final (05/16/06) vpn firmware installed) configure as a gateway to my Internet.

The router uses WPA2 as a protection for wireless.

I have WPA pre-shared key with TKIP+AES configured.

On the APX I am using the Wireless client mode with the name (I typed) of my wireless router.

In wireless security I have choosen WPA2 and password, then entered the password (ASCII text) in the 2 fields (cut&paste).

Click on update, then the amber light comes on for a while and start blinging for ever after that. That mean, it cannot connect, but I can't figure out why. Then I have to reset the APX to have access to its configuration mode after that.

    Any idea?

    Thanks

To the best of my knowledge, there is a problem with the WPA you are using. The only encryption that I have gotten to work between a Linksys and Apple Airport Express or Extreme is WEP or no encryption.

Try disabling all encryption for the moment and reconfigure the Express and try again. You should have success. Then try using WEP. You should also have success. Once you try using any form of WPA, the trouble starts.

This is the experience I have had in the past with v23 and v24. I have not tried to fix this lately so I can only assume the issue still exists.
