am i doing it right!!!

    i have a prolink h9200 modem/router (isp issued) connected to a wrt54gs ver.6 (CGN9) connected the modem to one of the port in the lynksys...then connectd my laptop wireless to surf the internet....its working!!!! but the instruction is to connect the modem to the internet port...am confused...

    No, but it works as you see and thats because you are using the router as a switch. You are not getting the firewall or nat protection, if you have no problems with that then leave it be, i run several routers like switched myself, but if you want/need the firewall then put the modem into the "internet" plug of the router and reboot it.
