Am I secure?

I am using a WRT54GS v4 with WPA-PSK/TKIP set up and using a laptop (Toshiba Portege M100). I configured the laptop using the builtin Intel Proset wireless util and bypassed XP SP2 wireless config wizard tool.

Everything seems to be working ok. However for a test I switched wireless control to XP and noticed that my taskbar wireless icon popped up with a ballon saying "connected (unsecured)".

Am I really secure? Or is this a known bug?

    Thanks in advance.

My guess is that this indicates you aren't using a Windows recognized software firewall on this connection. Your WRT54GS serves as a hardware firewall. You may or may not want to use a software firewall as well.

    Thanks for the reply.

I have the standard XP SP2 firewall enabled by default.
