Any problems with WRT-54GC?

Discussion in 'Cisco/Linksys Wireless Routers' started by oskargronqvist, Jan 12, 2006.

  1. Hi!

    I'm thinking of buying a WRT-54GC.

-Have anyone had or heard of any problems like dropping internet connection etc.?
-What about the internal antenna and signal reception?
    -Any other issues?
-What about linksys routers in general? Anything I should know before i buy it?

I have one it's slower than the WRT54Gv4 I have, I was going to use it before buying another WRT54G because of its size. It was (WRT54GC) 20% slower than the WRT54G running in a WDS mode to a WRT54GSv2.1. Range not very good, just be in the same room!

Yes, it's junk. Even the upgraded firmware I downloaded wouldn't let me port-forward a port higher than 32767. This is a problem since the BT network I am using need 49152 forwarded.

It's rubbish. Don't buy it. I just bought it a couple of weeks ago and didn't do any good to me. I re-packed it and put in my drawer until someone is willing to buy it from me.
I agree with dirtyclyde, the range is not very good. The firmware can not be upgraded with 3rd party firmware.

    WRT54G V-5

I bought one from Dell, I have two Desk Tops and one Lap top I use one of my desk tops the 2nd is kept as a spare. It's old but if one of the two computers go down, at least I can get the better halfs e-mail until the broken one can get up and fixed or replaced.

I got this wireless router so we could use our Lap top downstairs on the dining room table, I took my other router and put it away. it's a Linksys Model BEFSR41,

When I hooked up the new Wireless router the wall wort (power adapter) does not work. So I am using the one from the old router. I tried to call customer service and Tech Support yesterday (Thursday) and talk to them about it , burt that was like trying to call some one who cares @ EXXON about the ripoff pricing for Fuel.

Anyone have any suggestions on how I get a new wallwort? for my WRT54G ?

    Thanks much Himself
