The power supply on my new-out-of-the-box WAP54GX melted down after about 30 mins of use. Anyone else experience this?

The stock power supply was 12V 1000mA center-positive. As a side note, I happened to have a 500mA supply in my stash and the AP seems to work with the smaller transformer.

USUALLY ROUTERS CAN BE KEPT ON FOR A LONG TIME (MONTHS AND EVEN YEARS WITHOUT REBOOTING) I HAVE 3 DIFFERENT LINKSYS ROUTERS WHICH HAVE BEEN KEPT ON FOR ABOUT 4 MONTHS NOW AND THEY DON'T SEEM TO OVERHEAT AT ALL.

MAYBE YOUR DEVICE HAD A DEFECTIVE POWER ADAPTER. WHEN THESE ROUTERS ARE SHIPPED ACROSS THE COUNTRY ANYTHING CAN DAMAGE THEM.

EVEN IF YOU HAVE AN ACCESS POINT, SWITCH, HUB,ETC... ITS ALL THE SAME.

i've had the same power supply for years and never had trouble, i've seen some of them go bad and need to be replaced but never melted down (if your talking physically)
