Spent an hour or two trying to get client mode working in Alchemy, without success (on a WRT54GS previously running Satori 4).

    Anyone succeeded ?

One theory (not tried as only remembered aftwords) is the LAN side has to be a different sub-net than the wireless side ? Anyone confirm.

I couldn't get it working only using the same subnet either.. dunno why
here is my setup that did work however

    Client Mode

    CLIENT ROUTER SETUP

    Static IP
    Internet IP Address: 192.168.1.2
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    Gateway: 192.168.1.1
    Static DNS 1: 192.168.1.1

    Local IP Address: 192.168.2.2
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    Gateway: 192.168.2.2
    Local DNS: 192.168.1.1

MAIN ROUTER SETUP (may not be required)

    Static route add
    Destination IP Address: 192.168.2.0
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    Gateway: 192.168.1.2
    Hop count: 1

PC’s Connected to the Client Router

    IP Adresses: 192.168.2.x
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    Gateway: 192.168.2.2

    DNS: 192.168.1.1

I also put the CLIENT ROUTER's IP in the MAIN routers DMZ and left the firewall ON and Block Anonymous CHECKED ( so i didn;t have to forward specific ports thru 2 routers if the CLIENT ROUTER's firewall is turned on), I only have computers off of the CLIENT ROUTER atm.. IF u want computers on both MAIN and CLIENT Routers i guess you would turn the firewall OFF on the client router..

hm hope that makes sense hehe

I had this problem too, and I need that the machine had the same sub-net of the main router. I'm trying to solve it...

Let me know if you solve the problem. I want the wrt54g in client mode to act as a true wireless bridge on the same subnet.

I heard that the new firmware "Talisman" from Sveasoft will do this. I'll gladly pay the $20 for it but I want to know that it will work before I do. You can download this firmware for 5 routers from one account. If anyone else is willing to see if it works/chip in PM me.

Post here if you find any solutions.

If you solve, post here too. Now I'm translating DD-WRT interface.

    Client Mode

Yes, I have Client Mode working normally on Alchemy 1.0 over v3.37.6.8sv firmware as well, on a seperate subnet. The guide listed above also mentions one must add the route manually to the routing table in Setup>Advanced Routing.

One could also use WDS instead and use the same subnet as source AP. Even though the Sveasoft Manual states that only one hard-wired client can hook up to a WDS enabled router, I have found this to be inaccurate so far - have hooked up 3 clients to a WDS router. I've read that "theoretically" this could halve bandwidth. I've not seen this yet since WRT's don't push more than 10% of their advertized bandwidth anyway, according to my limited experience. I haven't tried my v.2 GS as an AP yet, though.
