I tried to follow the steps in the link above but the folder 'usb' from path /proc/bus/ is missing. Does anyone have a clue?

From this page I gather that the usbdevfs file system should be mounted there. The usbdevfs file system is not built into the kernel, and that may or may not be why the mount point doesn't show up either.

I don't have access to my development machine at the moment, but I will check if there is a module that I can make available.

I just checked the kernel configuration... usbdevfs and HID support cannot be compiled as modules, so you will have to download the source, do a make menuconfig under the linux directory, add the USB device filesystem and add HID support, then run make from the top directory. With a little luck, this will not make the kernel too big to fit.

I will add the feature to the next version if possible, this is a feature that has been requested quite a few times.
