Is it possible with Tomato 1.23 to redirect a client before they can browse the net?
I want to post news and update about everything happen in the network. So is it possible if the announcement is saved in the router or in the USB flashdrive attached to my router? Or just keep it as the script..

    Thanks....

I suspect that this would be difficult. Remember that Tomato is serving as a router/gateway and not as a proxy. Its job is to find grab packets intended for the outside world and send them on their way, and likewise to send incoming packets to the appropriate computer.

It sounds like you want to set up one of the (real) computers on your network as a proxy, and force all other computers on your network to go through that proxy by letting it be the only computer with access to the outside world on ports 80 and 443.

    Captive portal?

Sounds to me that you want to implement some sort of captive portal. Typically, captive portals are used to have users log in to your network via the browser before they are allowed to browse the web. I'm not aware of any of the tomato mods supporting this, but have seen support in other firmwares.

    Nocatsplash

DD-WRT and using NOCATSPLASH is what you want to happen.

I tried getting this to work before I switched over to tomato, but had some problems and abandoned it. You may want to jump over to the DD-WRT discussion and have a go at your question again.

Here is a pre-moded firware hack of DD-WRT, that impletments this with a password system. I didn't give it a go yet, just downloaded it for a rainy day, when am able to secure another used WRT54G on the Cheap.

I would love to see this implemented into TOMATO, as this (along with multiple ssid's) were a few reasons I was reluctant to switch to tomato. But the Bandwidth monitoring here beat DD-WRT hands down.

PS Can anyone here name a mod/admin to contact regarding changing my user name. I got a case of the fat-fingers when registering and input it all dyslexic. I tried the contact function, but got no answer back. I would just rather PM someone.

If I use this, Where will the login page be located? In the internet, in the router, or in the LAN?

 THANKS, I an re-acclimating to vBullliten. I am so used to IPBoard (on the BBS I usually frequent)

The pre-mod I linked stores in the NVRAM I believe. I read a tutorial before that mentioned JFFS2. I enabled it before and got it working with the included page only, I didn't bother with it long enough to edit the embeded page on the router. I jumped onto tomato shortly after trying this experiment.

Sorry I can't really help you further, but I just know its possible in the latest dd-wrt build.
