ASUS WL-520GU WAN to LAN on 100Mbit broadband

    I made a few tests with my ASUS WL-520gU for WAN to LAN transfers after i upgraded my subscription from 50 MBit fiberlink to 100 Mbit fiberlink.

    First of all i have to say i had no problems at all changing firmware on WL-520gU using ASUS Firmware Restoration, from 2.0.0.8 to 3.0.0.8 to tomato and back to 2.0.0.8 using restore button from back of router.

    I used tomato-NDUSB-8742-Ext for last 2 weeks and worked flawless except for download speeds which seemed a bit slow on torrents. Great work Teddy Bear btw.
    I download alot from torrents that are on same ISP with me, ISP having country wide fiber links and more than 500 k users and i have no problems to find seeds on high speed connections.

    My router serves internet for 2 desktops, 2 wireless laptops and a Lexmark X544DN network multifunction printer.

    I did the test with a 10Gb test file from ISP ftp server

    - first tested tomato 1.27 teddy bear
    fw: tomato-NDUSB-8742-Ext.trx
    USB support disabled, FTP Server disabled, Samba disabled, QoS disabled, Firewall disabled, WAN set to 100Mbit Full
    result 3,6 MB/Sec constant - CPU at max on router

    - second test ASUS FW 2.0.0.8

    factory settings, firewall disabled
    result 4,8 MB/Sec constant

    - last test - direct connection from my computer
    Gbit LAN, pppoe connection
    result 10,8 MB/Sec constant

    uTorrent highest Dwload - 8,9 MB/Sec, Upload 7,9 MB/Sec

    Looks like it's time for me to get a new router and atm i have 2 choices in mind: NETGEAR WNDR3700 - 680 Mhz CPU, 64 MB RAM, 8 Mb flash, 409 Mbps WAN to LAN, Dual Band Wireless - N, Gbit WAN+ LAN, 1 USB no BT client atm no DD-WRT or tomato, good file transfer over USB can get it for 150 $
    ASUS RT-N16 - 533 Mhz CPU, 128 MB RAM, 32 Mb flash, 141 Mbps WAN to LAN, Single Band Wireless - N, Gbit WAN+ LAN, 2 USB, has BT client and is a nice toy for DD-WRT or tomato, slow transfer over USB can get it for 160 $
