Automating Log On with Tomato?

Discussion in 'Tomato Firmware' started by jcsopko, Sep 4, 2010.

I'm currently at a University and the wireless connection doesn't reach to my room so I'm interested in purchasing a router (I have a wired connection). While I'm at it I figured I might as well find a way to auto log on into the University's network and wanted to see if Tomato or a mod could help. Upon opening a web browser I'm redirected to a log on site where my username and password is required. Is there a way for me to automate this process through the router rather than scripts specifically on my computer (I'd like authentication to be done by the router so other devices such as a Kindle or Palm Pre can use the wifi without the credentials).

    tl;dr.
Can I use Tomato to automatically input log on credentials?

P.S. If I can provide any additional information that would be helpful let me know.

Do you have cURL installed on your router?

I have yet to purchase a router since I'm unsure of any possible hardware requirements so no I do not, should I? Will it solve my problem?

EDIT: From my understanding cURL is capable of user authentication however I'm still unable to determine whether or not it will be able to authenticate in this particular case. For my authentication I am redirected to the first site containing a form in javascript (I believe) and I enter my username and password. Then I am redirected to another site in which I have to click on a button (integrated in javascript I think?) to gain access.

Is cURL or any other software capable of automating this for the router? I plan on doing a bit more research and maybe testing on my own if need be, but anyone with knowledge or whom are willing to help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

P.S. I'll post the source code for the first and second page of authentication in sucesssive posts if anyone needs them to figure out/help.

    Regards,
    Joe

The log in process is as follows: Upon attempting usage of internet access end-user is redirected to first page in which username and password must be given. Once entered end-user is directed to second page in which a temporary access button must be pressed. This process must be done every 90 minutes.

Here is the source code for the first page:
