I've just downloaded the Azureus BT client and I thought I followed all the directions for port forwarding to get it to download fast, but no luck. I'm still getting yellow faces and 0-10Kbs DL speeds (but 10Kbs upload speeds, which is the max I defined, and that's frustrating!)

What else do I need to do? I'm running Windows XP (SP2 firewall) with a WRT54GS router and a Westell 2200 DSL modem (Verizon DSL). I do have DHCP enabled, and I know maybe I should try a static IP config, but I thought port forwarding would at least speed things up before I rebooted. I ran a check through "Shields Up!" and saw that port 6881 was still on "Stealth," so I really don't know what else to do.

Can anyone help? I would really appreciate any adive! :)

P.S. I did open port 6881 on the software firewall. Still no luck. :(

Not an expert, but the only thing I can think is that some ISP's limit the bandwidth on certain identified ports, which are commonly used for P2P or whatever. If you change the port Azureus uses and forward this port on your router and open it in Windows firewall, it may help the problem.

Some torrent groups even insist that you change the port, as you will be reducing the effectiveness of their distribution, so they don't allow the client to connect to the tracker without you using a differnet port, normally over 50000 where there are no commonly assigned uses for the ports.
