Hello, I have a 2 router setup at my home: rt-n16 in basement connected to WAN and asus 500w on main floor, both with the latest Tomato. The 500w is connected via ethernet wire to the rt-n16 and should support both wired and wireless clients on the main floor. The rt-n16 is setup as the local dhcp server with static dhcp entries for the devices in the home.

What's the best way to configure the 500W to support this? I've tried a few configs and they provide IPs the wireless clients, but I have difficulty reconnecting to the web admin interface of the 500W wirelessly - it just hangs with "connecting to 192.168...". I have to connect wired to the 500W. Do I connect the rt-n16 to the 500w via the WAN port or a LAN port? What other settings make sense?

Should WAN port be set to "Disabled"?

    It is not necessary.

    Thanks, got it working now.

    - disabled WAN and used WAN port as LAN
    - "hardcoded" router IP address (instead of trying to pull from main router DHCP)
    - disabled DHCP server
