I have connected everything as advised in the set up guide. When I eventually got both PC's connected I ran speed test's. The internet gets better results from speed tests on hers than mine. I am getting about 3 mbps she gets 7.4 mbps. My internet has gone really slow. Even now her machine is turned off but mine is still slower. How do I remedy this? many thanks for any help/advice offered.

    Both running XP pro.
  2. I have the same problem dude

This can be caused by your TCP/IP settings - have you tweaked for dial-up performance in the past, try running the test here

I guess you are using NTL what modem do you have?

What network card do you have - is it running at 100Mbps full duplex?

What version BEFSR41? V1 and V2 only have 10Mbps half-duplex WAN ports - which I would expect to limit the internet speed to around 5Mbps - but not explain the difference.

also make sure you done have any trojan or virus. use hijackthis and then the log analyzer to see what is running and possibly taking up bandwidth.
