I recently set up a Cisco 7960 VOIP phone for working from home. Systematically the phone loses registration several times per hour, timing out the session that the VOIP service leaves open so the switch can hand calls off to the phone. The result is the inability to receive calls. Any call will go directly to voicemail. However, outbound is always functional. I have been troubleshooting this extensively with our VOIP support and we have determined that it is the router that is causing the problem. They said this is a typical issue with broadband routers. I find it funny that they are owned by the same company and can't get the hardware to get along properly. Anyway, if anyone here has seen this before or knows of any kind of a fix/workaround or has any useful info at all I would love to hear it. Thanks!
