    Hello All.

I am having a problem with the linksys cable/dsl router BEFSR41v4, I have the latest firmware installed on it, verison 1.04.05.

The problem I am having is the QOS. I have two computers running on this, but if one computer starts downloading anything then it is nearly impossible to do anything on the other computer. I use one computer for games, my brother uses the other for mainly downloads using azerus.

The main problem is I can't play games if he is downloading, even if he uses Azerus or another download manager. I have a 2MB down, 128K up dsl connection. He has limited his download speeds to 512kb and his uploads speeds to 5KB. IT still makes no difference.

So I setup the QOS on the router. I gave my computer high priority and his computer low priority. It doesn't make any difference. I set my game to high and azerus to low, but it made no difference.

My question is, does the QOS work on these routers? It seems fairly straight forward. I have set the incoming rate limit on my computer to 1mb and on his 512k. I ahve enabled the flow control and left the upstream bandwidth to auto. I have also set my port as high and his as low. It still makes no difference. I can't play games if he is downloading.

Can anyone recommend anything for me to try? It is getting really frustrating, If I haven't explained anything well enough just let me know.

    Thanks in advance,

    QOS problems, too

I have similar problems with QOS, too. I tried to give the high priority to HTML traffic and low to torrent applications, but with no success. If there is a torrent download, the HTML (port 80 traffic) is unbelievably slow. There is NO difference with QOS enables or disabled.

The router is BEFSR41 V4 with 1.04.05 (latest) firmware
