BEFSR81 V3 Causing Timeouts

I've been the owner of a Linksys BEFSR81 V3 (firmware 2.50.2) router for over a year now. Everything has been going fine, except lately it has been causing timeouts on applications such as MSN and IRC (wide range of servers).

The timeout is registered as the common 10053 error (Software caused connection abort -- apparentely commonly happening when a ACK packet isn't received) in mIRC and Trillian and affect all systems on the network. We have a WAP54G connected to it, but being wireless or wired doesn't seem to make a difference.

The last couple of days I have been testing the network. I have connected directly to the modem, which works fine. I have replaced the cable between the modem and the router, which didn't work fine. So, the only common piece of hardware across the network is the BEFSR81 V3.

I have had continious ping windows open to see if something looked strange, but all ping times looked normal.

I am clueless. I just have no clue what to do with this. Yes, we heavily use the internet transfering about 90GB a month. Does it have a maximum connection limit we're bumping into? There doesn't seem to be any unofficial firmware for this one either, so any more information related to the problem or the router is highly appreciated. :)

    Thanks in advance,
