Best firmware for my kind of use

    Hi everybody!

I have a WRT54G and I'm sure it's the best router I've ever bought in my whole life.

Someone just told me that you can flash the router with 3rd party firmware, but I've been looking around, and there are a lot of firmwares out there.

I am looking for a firmware which is able to turn the WRT54G into a Accesspoint only device (so disable routing, but it's not required) and that boosts the throughput a little bit (not the range).

I thought that HyperWRT would be a great one, but please let me know your personal expierences.

    Hi, Doctor Nick!

i'm running wifibox, it doesn't seem to be in deveopment anymore afaict but it doesn't really bother me, it does what I need it to.... I don't think any of the firmware disable routing completely but it's optional on all builds even the linksys one so it really won't hurt anything if it's off...
and I believe all firmwares can boost the power level.

The default Linksys firmwares can't boost the power output as far as I know. I've always liked the Sveasoft firmwares, though now I've moved on to DD-WRT for various reasons (it's a derivative of Sveasoft's stuff).
