    Today I bought a WRT54G router.

Now trying to set up I have had alot of problems. The bit where it says enter password on the disk. what password do you enter? Something like enter password after checking computer system or something.

Anyway after three times it comes up the manual internet connection entry detail. A message comes up a couple of seconds later 'error not message reciever!!' What does this mean?

Also when i proceed to the very end the router wont connect to my internet connection.

I have a ethernet network card and such in my computer so that shouldn't be a worry.

    Dont use the setup CD

The setup CD is crap. I set these routers up all the time for clients. What you should do is set the router up manually. Plug your computer into the router and open a web browser and got to the sign in box will come up. the user name is left blank and the password is admin. once you log into the set for the router you can make the config changes you need to make.

Is there anyway I can scrap everything I have done with the router so I can start again?

I managed to get a connection on my laptop but then the desktop internet somtimes wouldn't then work. A pain really.

I just want to wipe the router clean and start again. Even on the nothing looks right. Just all blank and stuff. Some numbers but not all.

Would a system restore scrap everything I have done with the router so I can start a fresh?

press the reset button on the router for 30 seconds. then release, this will reset the router back to the default settings.

if you have added any software from the CD the uninstall the setup programs.

Where does the software on the cd tend to go if I did install any of it. Where abouts in the program files and stuff?
