To solve the no password headache... (Windows XP PRO/HOME only)

create a new admistrator user (username: tomato, password = tomato)
and use this user in cifs config

    in regedit...

    "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\SpeacialAccounts\UserList"

Add a DWORD, and set the Name to "tomato" (or the user name create above)

Tomato CIFS will logon no problem and the user will not be visible in the welcome screen or control panel. (in XP Pro you can see the user in Machine Maintenance)

If your XP account doesn't have a password, I think you can just type anything for the CIFS client password. I have XP Pro and it works for me.

In a world of malware and viruses, black passwords are a horrible idea...
