Unlike with the stock Linksys firmware, I see the WLAN LED blink, even when there are no connected clients. This 'scared' me at first, since I thought someone broke in to my WLAN. Also, the LAN LED blinks, even when the machine is off (the machine keeps the LAN card alive, when off). Maybe the router is reporting on information which is technically sent by the router, but is ignored by the stock firmware, since it isn't 'real' data?
Novice question, what is STP and why/why isn't it necessary? Thanx. ***EDIT*** I found a nice link about it, in another thread, here: http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td...ntman/cwsimain/cwsi2/cwsiug2/vlan2/stpapp.htm but I am still not sure if or why it is necessary or what it will do for me(cable modem with WRT 54GS and 2 clients).
in your case....STP shouldnt make a difference. STP is used when there are more than 1 switches interconnected together in a redundant way.
