Blocking Bittorrent at certain times?!

    Hi all,

I have had a search on the forums but can not find a relevant answer so I am hoping that somebody can help...

My ISP has set up a restriction meaning that only around 1 gig can be download between peak hours. I have a Tomato router and I am trying to setup a rule that will disable bittorrent traffic between 16:00-21:00.

My rule works because it will stops any new bittorent connections being created and also when the time range end the connections reform. However, it does not stop the existing connections.

As I am away from my computer at 4pm I am unable to close bittorrent manually, does anybody know of a way around this?

    Many thanks in advance

I've only used Bittorrent and uTorrent, but they have an internal scheduling function. Each hour of each day can be configured for full-speed, restricted-speed, or no torrents.

Assuming your rule that works is an "iptables -A..." and "iptables -D..." type thing.

A way to stop existing connections may be by restarting iptables so it flushes all chains and then redefine them. This would, however (if it works), break ALL connections active at that time.

I think the restart is something like this
    Code:
    service iptables restart
    but I'm not sure
