Bridge or Modem problem, going nuts trying to figure it out

Problem: Have a bridge using tomato, used to work perfectly. The problem now is that it cuts out multiple times per day. Originally setup going from Motorola SURFboard SBV5220 Digital Voice Modem with Integrated Battery Backup from comcast with 5 non dedicated ip addresses to switch then to 4 devices then added a router with tomato into switch transmitting to another tomato router configured as bridge, worked great for months. Started having multiple outages a day but could always login to router through bridge connection but if I refresed the wan ip it would take forever to come back.

I reconfigured the system put in a second router so now I go modem to switch to house modem and same switch to tomato router that I use as access point for bridge. Problem stayed the same. I recently upgraded to the latest version of tomato and it helped some, don't go down as often. I can always log in to distant router from wireless connection (bridge) side but loose browsing capability multiple time a day.

It seem like the tomato access point looses its ability to talk to or resolve ip's from the comcast modem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. And why did it work to begin with? Tips on best way to trouble shoot would be great.

    Thanks very much.

Don't think it's the same thing

Thanks for the link but I don't think it's the same as it can happen multiple times an hour. It seems like it is in the modem as I can always reach the access point thru the bridge so my wireless connection is fine. I had a recomendation to come off the house router instead of the switch, but I was told my current configuration would work fine and would do a better job of keeping both networks separate.
If I could do some steps to isolate where the problem is coming from, as I don't know if it's the modem or my configuration.
