I am looking at using an antenna/bridge/wireless router to enable better long distance connections while on my boat.....will I be able to use a single WRT54G for the bridge and wireless routing (or will I need to purchase two WRT54G units---one for the bridge and another to function as the wireless router???)....

You would have to purchase two WRT54G routers. One would be an access point and the other could be used as a bridge or as a repeater. When used as a bridge (like a NIC) with Sveasoft Achemy or Satori firmware the unit can not connect to any other wireless device except to the othe WRT54G. If you use the WRT54G as a repeater, you have to use WDS, which cuts your bandwidth in half. The Achemy firmware is ni beta and cost $20.00. The Satori can be downloaded from this site and ther is a forum at this site where you can get more information about it.

    Further question

Thanks...you confirmed what I expected....I have not been able to find the "easy" guide to setting up the WRT54G to function in client mode.....any help would be much appreciated....I've been thru most of the sveasoft site and the link doesn't seem to give much info....
