    I have a Buffalo WHR-HP-54G running Tomato v1.19.
I currently have the transmit power set to 32mW.
What is the highest I can go (without burning out or overheating) and the optimal setting to set
    this to?

    Thanks! :)

Nobody will ever guarantee "not burning out or overheating", but the max effective setting is around 64 - 68. V24 dd-wrt defaults to 70 and while there have been a couple of people claim that it burned out their Buffalo, if it were truly the case, we should be hearing many more complaints.

I run mine at 32. Anything higher and the weaker clients wouldn't be able to return the signal anyway so what's the point?

    Ok, thanks man.
I just changed from Tomato to DD-WRT. I like both, but I'm gonna stay with DD-WRT. Like some of the add features. :)
