Bug?!: Router password length limited to 8 characters

    Dear folks,

I didn't find something in the forum, so I ask here about it:

I am using a WRT54GS v1.1 router running dd-wrt 2.3 SP2 for months now. I am also using a password that consists 16 randomly generated characters. However this morning I found that only the first 8 characters of my password are checked. That means whenever I enter the first 8 characters of my password I can access the router's setup. This works for Web access and for telnet access as well. The according documentation told me that I may use a password of up to 32 characters. But it doesn't make sense if only the first 8 characters are checked ...

So is this a bug or a feature?

    Any comments appreciated ...

    Best regards,
