I am puzzled. DHCP for my wrt54gs V3 works with HyperWRT when the network has another local DHCP server but when plugged directly into my cable modem it does not get an IP address.

    Firmware Version: v3.37.2 - HyperWRT 2.0
    Linksys wrt54gs V3

When you hooked it up, did you power the cable mode and WRT54GSV3 down for at least two minutes and power up the modem and WRT54GSV3 in that order. Some cable ISPs record the MAC address of the computer's NIC connected to the cable modem, try cloning the MAC Address of your computers NIC to the WRT54GSV3.

    howardp6, Thanks

    howardp6,
Having worked with commercial networking hardware I have obviously lost my patience. Your suggestion worked. Thanks again.
    Dave.
