Call for l7 filter updates.

Last time the l7 protocols were updated was 5-2009. I would love to see everyone do a push to update these to some of the latest apps/games. Perhaps you wireshark nerds out there can do some weekend warrior stuffs and get us some updates? Sourceforge has a small write up on what we need: http://l7-filter.sourceforge.net/Pattern-HOWTO
Clear Foundation does not seem to care, and the community has let it fall by the wayside. What is the purpose for having a robust QoS l7 filtering system if we don't have any up-to-date l7 filters? It's like buying a sports car and never driving it.

On another note, would love to see some form of integration with our QoS for the peerblock lists. it would be quite awesome if those of us that have a CIFS share or something could import the latest peerblock p2p/virus/ads/malware lists directly in to QoS for a DROP filter.

I agree with getting new/updated L7 rules. Most of the ones I've tried don't work too well.

There is a ton tomato can do, as well as anyone else that can run wireshark, has the app/game, and a little time. l7 filters are not copywrited, anyone can make them and submit them. I even pasted a link to a HOW-TO to create l7 filters, I am not entirely sure why you think only clearfoundation has rights. Go to their website, they even said that this is now community run under creative commons: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/1.0/

Hi BobOki, can you please re-post the link to the how-to?

    Many thanks

No point continuously "bumping" this thread, if anyone cares to produce some new filters we will be only too happy to test them out.
