I really do not wanna brick my router so can somebody please tell me if this is ok... I downloaded "DD-WRT v.23 sp1 micro" from the DD-WRT website. It was a compressed folder with the following files: "dd-wrt.v23_micro_generic" (BIN), "dd-wrt.v23_micro_wrt54g" (BIN), "dd-wrt.v23_micro_wrt54gsv4" (BIN), "dd-wrt.v23_micro_asus.trx" (TRX), "dd-wrt.v23_micro_moto" (BIN), "dd-wrt.v23_micro_wrt54gs" (BIN). My router is a WRT54G v.5 and i want to put DD-WRT on it. Which one should I use (if any) and would my router be ok or is there a good chance it will eff it up?

    Thanks in advance.

Would I have to flash it with the JTAG thing? I dont really know what that is. Can i just type in the default IP address (192.168.1.1) and use the Administrator/Upgrade Firmware way?

You bought a v5, life sucks for you. Follow the instructions posted in the links above. If something goes wrong, you will have to JTAG your unit. There is always the possibility that you will fork it over to the point of no return.

The v5 upgrade to DD is not done though the gui.
