Can I get Atheros Mini PCI to reach 108Mbps on WRT54GS?

    Hi guys,

I have just bought myself an Atheros Mini PCI card model AR5121A it is A/B/G card with Super G certified and reaches a speed of 108Mbps when used with NetGear or D-Link speedboosters products like WGT624.

The disappointing bit is, I replaced my WGT624 with WRT54GS but looks like the WRT54GS does not work with Atheros Super G technology and to get the 108Mbps I have to buy Linksys adapter; they have not got any Mini PCI one.

Is there any tweak to make the router accepting the Super G??

The WRT54GS is not 108Mbps router. it is a 54g with speedbooster technowledgy. this gives it a theoretical 30% extra speed but not 108 :) far from it.

    Thanks Toxic for the info!!

I thought the SpeedBooster was an increase in speed...rrrrrrrrr

Any way, still a lot better, robust and stable than WGT624; I do not think I will go back to NetGear's.

Stability is heaps more appreciated for me than speed....

    Thanks again

speedbooster will ony give an increase in speed with other Linksys "GS" devices. the increase is approx 30%
