we bought a new router, to go more ethernet ports, but the router (BEFSR41) doesnt work yet. our pc shop said to upgrade the firmware.

the problem is i can get acces to the router and the internet at once, so is there any possibility of an offline upgrade?

    thanks in advance,

just download the firmware from linksys and save it on your computer. Then you have to go into your router settings and upgrade from file isntead of www

    Seems fishy

There's something fishy about the router not working without a firmware upgrade. Typically, the router/switch will work no matter what version of firmware is running.

Firmware upgrades typically improve stability and performance or address bugs. As I recall I helped set up a home network based on a BEFSR41 a couple of years ago and it seemed to go fine.

Would you care to be more specific about what's not working?
