Can Tomato QOS to only throttle upload speeds while gaming?

I was wondering if QOS with the Tomato firmware can throttle upload speeds only while gaming. My goal is to lower my ping by lowering my download speeds (e.g. P2P and Web). And from what I read, to do that, I have to lower my upload speeds. I know how to set the maximum upload speed for P2P and I do have low pings. But the problem is, I have low download speeds even if I'm not gaming. So, what do I need to do?

    In short: no.

But most of the time there is some way to achieve what you are aiming for with linux. I have no idea how to do this though and I won't speculate.

If you really want to have the lowest pings you can get I would recommend closing all P2P-apps and web-downloads. Any upload traffic will always impair your ping times. With QoS it's just less severe. In my experience limiting the upload speed of p2p doesn't affect the download speed. That's only the case if the upload speed has been limited so much that it cannot send out all the neccessary ACK-packets.
