Can Use WAP11 As Repeater With WRT54G?

Our network uses a WRT54G, and the system downstairs gets a very weak signal. I have a WAP11 I'm not using, and I'm wondering (1) if I can use it as a repeater/range extender somehow and (2) how I would set up the WAP11's configuration to serve that purpose.

I'm not sure which AP mode to set it to, if it's even possible to use it in this way, or must the WAP11 always be cabled to the LAN?

Never mind. Just found the WAP11 can't work this way. It can only repeat another WAP11. I'd have to get a WAP54G wireless access point or a WRE54G range extender.
