Is the firmware inside the Wireless Game adapters upgradeable...what if you want to use WPA with your WRT54G......are we bound to WEP with these things....nevermore to be upgraded ???

Yes, the firmware can be updated, unfortunately, there are no updates.

The last firmware I have is from June 2003, and it does not comply with the final 802.11G standards.

I think we need to start making a stink about this and the WPS54GU2 getting better wireless drivers, support for WPA and proper stability.

    Who's with me!?!?!

A new firmware (v1.10) has been released... Unfortunately, after upgrading to this firmware, my WGA54G is no longer able to connect to my wireless access point :x . Anybody know if it is possible to rollback to the previous (original) firmware v1.06? If yes, where can I get the v1.06 firmware?

I've got the same problem, it no longer connects to my linksys router after upgrading.

    How can we downgrade?

Has anyone contacted linksys about this?

    ...this brings new meaning to...

..."don't upgrade unless you are experiencing problems..."

I did this, thinking that it would fix the flaky connect problems I had before when setting it up the first time at my new house. It was working fine, now I'm stuck with a $100 piece of crap, that Linksys doesn't even have a clue as to why the thing doesn't work.

I would like to download the old version of firmware too, when we can find it. I ordered a PCI card (I hope I'm not disappointed again by linksys, otherwise, this will have been my last product from them) to replace this game adapter, as I was using it for my PC to connect to the WRT54G.

Oh, why did I feel the need to upgrade...it's like getting the itch to spend some money to upgrade your computer...

I doubt we'll be seeing an update anytime soon, as this update is already several months old.

LINKSYS, if you read anything, hear this. Fix your crappy WGA54G, or lose even more customers.

And what's the deal with your customer service "give-up-meter," after spending almost 60 minutes on the phone with two different CS people, they get all ticked off, and want to end the call. I'm like, hey, if I bought your product, and am willing to spend this much time on the phone, the least the CS people could do is hang in there with me...

i'm still ticked off that they would offer a firmware upgrade without putting up the original firmware to rollback to if the new one doesn't work, which most of us can confirm now.....

as for me....i just said to hell with it and picked up the Xbox wireless adapter....i was up and operational in under 5 min(took a lil bit to create, transcribe, and get the WEP key put in )....i'll just let this POS sit for awhile till a "proper" fix arises, then use it on a computer(maybe a HTPC) or sell it to my neighbor....

I was thinking the same thing, (using it for an HTPC) now that my PCI card is on the way already.

The fix in that forum works, setting both the router and game adapter to mixed mode.

What a crappy work around though...

Linksys sucks. I won't upgrade again, until I can find the old firmware around somewhere that will let me downgrade again, if needed. Linksys sucks.
