Can you use a BEFSR41 and dyndns?

I notice that everyone talks about the WRT54G and its built in capability for DDNS support.

However, I have my machine running behind an old BEFSR41 4 port router and wanted to know what I have to do to get it working with dyndns' client.

Right now, I have set up my account, and as it stands I can connect through the internet to my home, but the problem is that my destination is my router, and not my computer. I get my beautiful router admin page (after logging in of course).

I imagine port forwarding must be set up, and for some reason, a few days ago I came to the conclusion to forward port 3389 to my computer, but that hasn't helped at all.

    Any ideas? Thanks!

Sorry, I tried connecting from my work machine, and the host name does not resolve. I was connecting to the host from my machine at home (the one running the dyndns client), I made a mental error on that one!

So, obviously I have more work to do!

Can I run the dyndns service through a BEFRS41 router? If so, how?

I don't see any options anywhere to define the hostname or other such settings as with the WRT54G.

    Thanks

    finally got my act together

I realized that there are these crazy versions of routers, and that may make a huge difference in what I can do, because it limits what firmwares I can use.

    So, I have BEFSR41 V2. Firmware is 1.46.02

It has no built-in DDNS support, is there a way I can set this up to work? Thanks

You can download one of the programs from this page and install it on your computer.
