Cannot access Admin Page

    After changing the Router IP, I'm unable to access the Admin page on my WRT54G. I changed the IP to 172.16.1.34. I can access the internet, and I can ping the router on 172.16.1.34. I just cannot get to the web-based admin page. I've tried 3 different machines -- they can all ping, but none can access via a web page.

    I've tried to access both on the old IP (192.168.1.1, which worked before I changed it) and the new IP. I've also done an IP scan in case it changed to something strange -- no unexpected IPs were found.

    I appreciate a hard reset would reset the IP back to 192.168.1.1, but I'd rather not do that -- I need the router IP to be at 172.16.1.34.

    Any suggestions?

    Just thought I'd add some additional info:
    WRT54G, firmware: v2.04.4
    Disabled software firewalls.
    I get a "Connection refused when attempting to contact 172.16.1.34" -- no prompt to login is displayed.

    Have you tried simply unplugging the router for a minute and then plugging it back in? This won't reset any of your settings.

    Yes, I have tried unplugging the router, and rebooting the PC's.

    the same happened to me. i did a hard reset and it worked.

    Mine started doing this today after I clicked the Reboot Router button on the Administration page (I think it was that page). Everything still works, but I can't manage the device using the web interface. Telnet appears to still be working...

    Oh how I'm hoping I don't have to hard reset it!

    I gave in and did a hard reset. So now I can access the router on 192.168.1.1 as expected, since that's now it's IP.

    Very strangely I can also access the router on 172.16.1.34 -- which was the IP I changed it to pre-hard reset. Why the 172 IP now works, despite the config now being for 192 I have no idea.

    Since no-one had any kind of response, and it works I'm leaving it as is.
